Safety Officer Job Description

Plays a vital role in ensuring that workplaces are free from hazards and that all safety regulations are followed. They are responsible for the safety of workers, property and the environment by ensuring health and safety procedures are in place in accordance with legal and company requirements. This role is essential in industries such as construction, manufacturing, oil and gas and industrial operations.

Key Responsibilities

A successful Safety Officer requires a very strong knowledge of OHS regulations and safety management systems.

Excellent communication and leadership skills to influence safe behavior.

Ability to remain calm and decisive during emergency situations.

Qualifications and practice Training

Diploma hse or Bachelor’s degree in relevant occupational health and safety, engineering, or a related field.

Professional certifications such as NEBOSH, IOSH, OSHA,Fire safety or ISO 45001, 9001 Lead Auditor are highly valued.

Training in first aid, fire safety, safety management and risk management increases employability.

Practical on-site experience is often required in oil gas and industries such as construction, oil and gas, or manufacturing.
